Traditions

The pomander ball...an orange pierced with cloves and tied with ribbon.

My grandmother created this tradition for me when I was five years old...30 years ago at her kitchen table, my little brother at my side.

I have been doing them with my children along the way because I felt drawn to...because my grandmother's longing to share a piece of her tradition with me made it so.

This week has revealed to me the current of family that runs through my life like a sutra...an invisible thread linking one thing to the next.

Hi Emma--I'm not sure of the tradition myself, I just know I feel like I'm tapping into a part of time where life's pleasures were a bit more simple.

And yes, Eco Yogini...yummy indeed and so far drying nicely.

Mmmm now I want to make one of my own! I wonder if they'll work with the tiny clementines here at my mom's house?

Annabellie--

I have read that you can use ANY citrus, so I would imagine that would work.

A piece of advice from this last round in our home--we only had lasting luck with the pieces of fruit that we COMPLETELY covered with cloves. On those that had space between the cloves, the skin molded and we had to toss 'em.

Enjoy!
