It's amazing the calming effect of bringing your hands together in prayer with your thumbs resting on the chest where the heart lies beneath.
It soothes. It instills peace. It allows you, for the moment, to come into the moment.
Try it out.
Come to a comfortable seated position bringing hands together at heart center. Then raise the hands to the forehead resting the thumbs there, "peaceful thoughts". Then lower your prayer hands and rest your thumbs on your mouth, "peaceful words". Lastly, bringing hands to heart center, "peaceful actions".
Walk in peace into your next moment, elevating yourself because you deserve the rise.

Yoga Anatomy
I am beginning to read, "Yoga Anatomy" by Leslie Kaminoff and I came across this statement in the first chapter that resonated with me:
"The moment you're born, you're confronted by two forces that were not present in utero: breath and gravity. To thrive, you need to reconcile those forces for as long as you draw breath on this planet"
Yoga= Breath + Movement
That's it man.
More than that are the adjustments made and the balance restored within the body during a yoga practice--our bodies are magnificent and I wonder how many of us have actually met our own.

A teaching moment for the teacher...
Until you have acquainted yourself with your students, don't attempt Balancing Half-Moon.
I taught my class this morning on the tail of a man who had taught for 18 years--no pressure, right?
The energy was great and I'm sure any pressure was created by me as I compared myself and style to what his might have been.
I learned from my students today, as I'm sure I will everyday going forward. I am open to those teaching moments, I embrace them and I use them as a guide.
How better to serve them?

Tuesday's Yoga Flow
I took my Tuesday donation-only class and the flow was great. The teacher encourages students to move as their bodies guide them to move.
Some ideas I brought away from this class are listed below:
Not only were these great and natural flows, I felt the use of muscles that are not often employed for the next few days.
Some ideas I brought away from this class are listed below:
Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle) to Urdhava Navasana (Upward Facing Boat)*
*Flowing with breath and holding each to your desire
Reverse Table to Dandasana (Staff Pose)*
